We ARE
NOT all the Same
Blackburn Forge, Inc.
is NOT a mainstream service provider. We specialize in HIGH
AVAILABILITY farrier service. We provide
custom hoof care services to an exclusive clientele of small private
stables and farmettes. When you do business with Blackburn
Forge, Inc. you automatically have access to our professional
network. However, the majority of our client services are
provided directly by our our staff farrier Tom
Bloomer.
We do not compete with
mainstream farriers in the large stables commodity market.
Our business serves clients who are not being well served
by mainstream farriers. Our Planned
Hoofcare service is only available to ONE HORSE AT A TIME.
The horse we are working on is the only horse that matters
to us until we have fully served that horse's hoof care
needs. Not everyone wants or can afford the level of personalized
service we deliver. If you want to "check out our prices"
to compare our fees to what you are used to paying or what some
other farrier service is charging, please continue reading this
page and review our Scheduling and Service
Policy before you make a fair value determination. <TOP
How
does the Mainstream Farrier Service Market work?
- Most farriers want
to work in large stables where there are a lot of horses.
Since farriers are paid per horse and not paid for travel, the
more horses at each stop, the less travel. From the farrier's
perspective it is very desirable (more profitable) for them to
have a full days work or several days work at one location.
- Finding a good farrier
is usually not a problem for a large stables because they have
many farriers competing for their business. Therefore they can
be selective and in many cases they can negotiate for better rates
and/or better service. If they are not satisfied with their
current farrier, they can easily replace them with one of the
other farriers knocking on their door.
- Small private stables,
farmettes, and "back yard pet" owners do not have enough
horses to make it worthwhile for a "mainstream" hoof
care provider to do business with them. Their horses may
not receive regular hoof care because nobody wants to "show
up" for just a few horses or just one horse. Often
these individual private stables resort to using a service provider
who has no formal training, skill, knowledge, or is lacking in
experience because they do not have enough "business"
to attract a competent farrier. <TOP
What
we do better than most service providers
- We call you
when it is time to schedule a hoof care appointment.
- We do not
overbook appointments so we always have time to respond
to our client's needs.
- We manage
our schedule according to the needs of the individual
horse.
- We return
telephone calls within 24 hours and emergency calls within
4 hours.
- We replace
lost shoes within 24 hours of notification.
- We are available
to communicate with our clients, take time to answer questions,
and cooperate with veterinarians and trainers.
- We take our
time, pay attention to detail, and deliver the best workmanship
we can on every horse. <TOP
How
Much Do You Charge?
Often we are contacted
by horse owners looking for a new farrier because their current
farrier raised their fees. There is no hoof
care service in our area that delivers service equal to or better
than we deliver at a lower cost. Our fees
reflect the level of service we deliver, not
what other farrier services are delivering, or in many cases FAILING
TO DELIVER.
